In 2005, Mrs. Cinelli joined the Law Offices of Toral Garcia Battista where she serves as a liaison between the law firm, clients, their families and health care providers.
Director Of Community Relations
Betty Cinelli, as a native of Puerto Rico, is fluent in both Spanish and English. After graduating from Florida State University, Betty concentrated on social services by working as a youth care specialist at a South Florida teen runaway shelter. Later, as a targeted case manager for severely emotionally disturbed children, Betty began to notice a familiar pattern: many of the children with a mental health diagnosis also had underlying neurological issues as a result of chronic physical abuse, in-uterus exposure to drugs and alcohol or undiagnosed brain injuries secondary to falls or sports-related accidents. This sparked an interest in brain injury.
Betty joined Florida Institute for Neurological Rehabilitation (FINR) in 1999 as an Area Manager where, for the following six years, she assisted the admissions department to qualify and process referrals, provided resource information to families and referral sources, coordinated clinical seminars for trauma hospitals, and conducted educational in-services on brain and spinal cord injury. Betty also represented the company at educational conferences nationwide.
For several years, Betty assisted Brain Injury Association of Florida, Inc. (BIAF) as Sponsor Chair for their Annual Professional Conference and Gala, A Night in the Tropics. Additionally, Betty is a member of the Board of Directors for Mothers Against Brain Injury, Inc.
In 2005, Betty joined the Law Offices of Toral Garcia Battista as their Director of Community Relations where she serves as a liaison between the law firm, clients, their families and healthcare providers. As a certified brain injury specialist, Betty assesses the needs of the firm’s clients, links them to community resources and helps their families navigate through the continuum of care. She was recently invited to speak on brain injury resources by HealthSouth Sunrise Rehab Hospital. Betty is also charged with managing the firm’s extensive community outreach efforts.
When asked about her role at Toral Garcia Battista, Betty responds: “Many healthcare professionals are surprised to learn that our law firm offers care management services. But once they understand the unique approach our firm takes in serving its clients, it makes a lot of sense. Our firm truly is unique and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help survivors of a brain and spinal cord injury and their families.”
