LeAnne Kerr was born in Chicago, IL, but spent most of her early life growing up in Jamaica. She returned to the United States of America to further her education, and attained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Miami in 2005. LeAnne’s passion for pediatric emergency and trauma care led her to Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH), where she has spent the past seven years.
During her tenure at MCH, LeAnne worked in the emergency room and trauma departments as a staff nurse, and later as a clinical coordinator in both areas. LeAnne most recently served as the Trauma Program Manager for MCH, where she actively worked to develop the trauma program, provide trauma nursing education, engage in injury prevention initiatives, and represent MCH on statewide and national committees.
LeAnne also attained certifications as a pediatric nurse (CPN), pediatric emergency nurse (CPEN), child passenger safety technician (CPST), and most recently as a brain injury specialist (CBIS). She is a member of the National Neurotrauma Society, an organization that focuses on research and advancements in the world of brain and spinal cord injury. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, a national honor society for nurses, the Society of Trauma Nurses, the American Trauma Society and the Emergency Nurses Association. LeAnne is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Nursing through Liberty University.
LeAnne has maintained a passion for trauma patients throughout her nursing career. This passion led her to join the Law Offices of Toral Garcia Battista as their Director of Care Management in 2011. “Trauma patients have always held a special place in my heart” said LeAnne, “In this role my goal is to help with the coordination and transition of care for patients with traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.
